Dubai: Indian carrier Jet Airways said it will begin operations to Gulf destinations from January 5.
It will start daily non-stop flights connecting several Indian cities with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.
Kuwait will be connected to New Delhi and Kochi, Bahrain will be connected to Mumbai and Kochi, Doha will have flights to Mumbai and Kozhikode, and Muscat will have flights to Kozhikode and Kochi, the company's regional marketing manager Shakir Kantawala said in a statement yesterday.
"This is just the beginning... Operations to the UAE and Saudi Arabia are under consideration," he said, adding that the airline is waiting for the Indian government's approval for these services.
The airline is promising "extremely competitive" fare structures on the busy India-Gulf sectors.
Schedules
Kantawala said departure and arrival schedules have been worked out in a way to allow passengers to arrive at their destinations during daylight.
Jet will introduce its service using the Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these sectors.
The 14-year-old carrier added three Boeing 777-300 ERs and one Airbus A330-200 to its fleet last month, taking the total size to 75 aircraft.
With an average fleet age of 4.7 years, the airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleet in the industry, Kantawala said.
The airline is working to connect the Gulf to its worldwide destinations in East Asia, Europe, the US, Canada and South Asia via India, he said.
Jet Airways operates over 355 flights daily.
