DUBAI - There will be no delay in the academic year and students will begin school on August 31, as announced earlier. Ministry of Education (MOE) has confirmed that 'there will be no delay or postponing' in the academic year, contrary to recent speculations.
In an official statement, Mohamed Bin Hindi, Executive Director for Institutional Affairs and Supporting Services at the MOE, said while August 24 will be the official beginning date of the academic year 2008/2009, students will begin their studies on August 31.
He assured that the idea of postponing the date of the academic year after the holy month of Ramadan was not open for any discussion in the Ministry at all. "Such a decision might affect the students negatively and could cause defect in the academic calendar and examination systems," he observed.
