RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Ras Al Khaimah Airways will shortly start direct flights to India, a senior official of RAK Airways has said.

The move comes after the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of India recently to increase the number of flights between the two countries.

Salim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, chairman of the RAK Civil Aviation Department, said RAK Airways would be operating seven daily flights from RAK airport to India.

Prasad P., an Indian expatriate residing in Mamourah area of RAK and a former general secretary of the Indian Association in RAK, said the introduction of direct flights from the emirate to India would greatly benefit Indian travellers.

Ahmed Raj, another Indian expatriate and a government employee said direct flights from RAK would make it very convenient for Indian expats residing in the emirate to travel back home.
